She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John “Jake” Barrett of Cary, NC, her children/spouses Mary (Paul) Kloeblen, Emily Barrett,

Annie Barrett, Liz (John) Noto, Rob Barrett, Kevin (Jen) Barrett, George Gulyas, and her grandchildren/great grandchildren, Dana (John) Helton,

She was married in NYC where 7 of her 9 children were born, then moved to New Jersey.

She and Dad retired to Bethany Beach, DE and then moved to Cary, NC, close to where John and Mary already lived. In Cary they remained.

She will be remembered by being the Best Hostess of many, many family and other parties in the backyard of 224 Demarest Ave in New Milford.

She woke every day with a smile on her face and never had a complaint.

She loved learning anything new. She enjoyed reading and knitting. She loved the sun and the ocean.

Her mornings over the last years of her life were enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table and watching the birds.

John taught her all the different species. She also loved the flowers from John’s garden.

She felt very lucky to have a lot of family surrounding her in her last years.

John and Mary lived close. Annie and Emily moved to Cary, NC from CA and Kevin moved his family of 5 to Cary as well.

Br. Francis' first assignment was teaching at the "Big A" 1946-1948.

I got to know Brother from working at Manhattan College and of course from Br. Gregory Hunt,

Br. Gabriel Healy and Br. John Muller.

He enjoyed reading the "Voice" and wondered if any students ever remembered him.

If there are any Ascension Alumni that do remember Br. Francis, perhaps you would not mind sharing a memory or two with the rest of us kids as he used to call us.

There is a little less light on our campus now, but the Heavens seem to be much brighter.

RIP dear and wonderful teacher and friend.
