Joan T. Maloney Driscoll ‘44, 87, of Pomona, NY passed away on October 22, 2017.

She was born on January 23, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ

to James & Catherine (Carmody) Maloney.

She married the love of her life John Driscoll on May 18, 1951 in the Church of the Good Sheppard in New York City.

Joan worked for the New York Telephone Company for years 30 years.

Joan is predeceased by her daughter Donna De Feo and her four brothers & sister Connie, Dermot, Maurice and Jimmy.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years John of Pomona, NY,

her beloved Children John (Donna) of Smithtown Long Island, Suzanne (Augie) of Putnam Valley,

Her adored & cherished grandchildren Robert Anthony Driscoll, Augie Pino Jr, and Richard Driscoll.
The family will receive friends & relative on Weds. Oct 25th from 4 - 8 pm

 at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Joan on Thursday Oct. 26th at 10 AM in

St Gregory's Church Garnerville, NY with a private cremation to follow.

Just received this information on the passing of our dear friend

Tommy Barrett, Class of 1959. He lived at 998 Amsterdam Ave

 Tom went to the lord on 3/2/17.

 He was born in New York city to  Bridie Barrett (nee Tunney) and Tom Barrett  both from County Mayo, Ireland

 He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Mary.

He is survived by his cousins  Una O'Neil, and Peggy Barrett Wolf.

 He grew up in Ascension Parish in New York City.

 After graduating LaSalle Academy, Tommy left college to join the navy.

He served four years in Vietnam.

 Later Tom worked in sales. He was a valued member of  his community, and will be sorely missed.

 He is interred in Calverton National Cemetary,  Calverton, New York.

Ed Plunkett ’47 Passed away August 24th. He lived in the Philippines for a long time.

Ann Marie “Nancy” Barrett nee Simpson ’45  86, of Cary, NC, died very peacefully on Monday, August 21, 2017,

at Duke Hock Hospice Pavilion in Durham, NC.

She was surrounded by the love of her husband, children and friends for the week prior to her death at Duke Hospice.

 Nancy was born July 24, 1931 in New York, New York, the daughter of Emily Dolan Simpson and Joseph Simpson.

She joins her mother, father and three eldest children (Kit, John and Tony) in heaven.

 She married her childhood sweetheart and they brought 9 amazing children into this world.

She was a full-time mom most of her life and went to work when Dad retired.

She worked at Bergen Pines Hospital where she quickly rose to a manager-level position. She surely had superb experience with supervision.

 She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John “Jake” Barrett of Cary, NC, her children/spouses Mary (Paul) Kloeblen, Emily Barrett,

Annie Barrett, Liz (John) Noto, Rob Barrett, Kevin (Jen) Barrett, George Gulyas, and her grandchildren/great grandchildren, Dana (John) Helton,

Jen Barrett, John Michael Daahling, Kevin (Anna) Kloeblen, Millie Kloeblen, Tim Kloeblen, Barrett Gulyas, Matt Kloeblen,

 Connor Barrett, Luke Barrett, Willie Noto, Trevor Barrett, Erin Barrett, and Scott Noto.

 She is also survived by her siblings Kay Moorehead, Geraldine Ciliberti, Emily Avery, Joan “Lolly” O’Donnell and Joe (JoJo) Simpson.

She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews and life-long friends. She loved everyone, as everyone loved her!

 She was married in NYC where 7 of her 9 children were born, then moved to New Jersey.

She and Dad retired to Bethany Beach, DE and then moved to Cary, NC, close to where John and Mary already lived. In Cary they remained.

 She will be remembered by being the Best Hostess of many, many family and other parties in the backyard of 224 Demarest Ave in New Milford.

She woke every day with a smile on her face and never had a complaint.

 She loved learning anything new. She enjoyed reading and knitting. She loved the sun and the ocean.

Her mornings over the last years of her life were enjoyed sitting at the kitchen table and watching the birds.

John taught her all the different species. She also loved the flowers from John’s garden.

She felt very lucky to have a lot of family surrounding her in her last years.

John and Mary lived close. Annie and Emily moved to Cary, NC from CA and Kevin moved his family of 5 to Cary as well.

The rest visited as much as possible. Family was the most important thing to her and she wished peace for all.

John E. O'Connor, 52  78 from Little Silver, NJ

passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 surrounded by his family.

He was born in New York City to the late Edward and Mary O'Connor. John was a graduate of Baruch College with a degree in Economics and Finance.

He was hired to be the Pension Director for IBEW Local 3 by Harry Van Ardsdale.

After working as the Pension Director, John received a scholarship to Cornell University where he earned his Master's Degree.

In 1972, He left the electrical industry and joined The Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company as a Financial Advisor.

 John proudly served his clients for 40 years with the utmost of dedication and retired in 2012. John was a communicant of St. James Church.

He loved nothing than spending time with family and friends always with a smile that lit up any room.

Martin J. Flanagan ‘44, AGE: 86 • Matawan Township NJ, passed away peacefully April 25, 2017  at Riverview. Surrounded by his loving family.

Marty was born on May 28, 1930 in Manhattan, NYC to Ellen (Hanlon) and Martin Flanagan.

Marty attended Ascension Grammar School and Cardinal Hayes High School NYC.

Marty served in the US Army from 1951-1954. He served as a staff sergeant in the Korean War and he was a long time employee of the ILA Local 1.

Marty married his loving wife Theresa (Luckie) on May 17, 1958.

They settled in Matawan to raise their six children.

Marty was loving and loyal to his wife, family, and took the most joy in life from his children and grandchildren.

Surviving him is his wife of 58 years Theresa, and their six children Martin, Kevin and wife Jamie, Eugene and wife Kim,

Therese, Edward and wife Jill, and Lizbeth;

and his 11 grandchildren Christopher and wife Kelly, Jack, Shane, Matthew, Mariah, Ryan, Aidan, Kieran, Ian, Michael, and Owen

and great grand daughter Evelyn along with many nieces and nephews.

Sr. Rose Cecilia Bozzo 56 (Maria Josephine Bozzo), a longtime Peekskill resident, died on Wednesday July 27, 2016.

Sister Rose Cecilia was born, the youngest of four children, to Joseph and Rose Bozzo in New York City on June 9, 1942.

Maria and her family lived on West 105th Street between Amsterdam and Broadway and was a childhood friend.

On September 8, 1960, at the age of 18, she entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Peekskill.

Sr. Rose Cecilia is predeceased by her parents; a sister, Louise Monaco and a brother, Ralph.

She is survived by her sister, Rosalie; nieces, Joanne and Angela, and nephews, Joseph and Ralph and grandnieces,

Nicole, Lauren, Abby and Anna, and grandnephew, Daniel.

John J Cahill 1942-2016

 John James Cahill, ‘58 a resident of State Road, NC, aged 73 died peacefully on April 17, 2016.

 

He was born in Manhattan, NY on October 1st 1944, the son of John Joseph and Elizabeth Vaugh Cahill.  He graduated St Joseph’s High School in Barrytown NY, a novitiate for the Christian Brothers, and from Manhattan College as a member of the class of 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature.

 John married his wife of 51 years, Aileen, in October of 1964.  John then joined the Bank of New York where he worked for five years and entered the technology industry as a computer programmer before moving to ITT Sheraton and starting his 37 year career in the hospitality industry.

John and Aileen moved with their five children from New Jersey to the Boston area to work with ITT Sheraton for the next thirteen years.  During his time at Sheraton, John traveled to over 70 countries, whilst moving through the ranks and eventually becoming Sheraton’s first ever director of hotel computer systems.

John’s long career continued as CIO at InterContinental Hotels and then Denihan Hospitality Group, from which he retired in 2009.  John was renowned in the hospitality industry and his depth of knowledge earned him a multitude of industry awards and accolades including a place in HFTP’s International Hospitality Technology Hall of Fame in 1993. He is a published author, enjoyed teaching aspiring hospitality industry students, and was a favored speaker at hospitality conferences worldwide.

 After retiring, John and Aileen moved to the home they built in North Carolina, near nine of their seventeen grandchildren. During retirement, John became active in his new community, becoming a true local.  He was heavily involved with the Yadkin Valley Rotary including serving as president and treasurer, and became a Paul Harris fellow in 2015. John and Aileen were avid supporters of the Elkin Valley Trails Association and were often seen walking their labrador, Dixie along the trail. At St Stephen parish, John was a lector, eucharistic minister, the finance director, and Confirmation sponsor to his son-in-law Barry.  

 He is survived by his wife Aileen; his three daughters: Mary Blackburn and her husband Barry of Elkin NC; Aileen Blass and her husband Brett of Upper Saddle River NJ; and Margaret Rogan and her husband Frank of Sammamish, WA; and two sons: John and his wife Vanessa of Kingsport, TN; and Paul and his wife Lesley of Portage, MI; three sisters: Mary Mooney, Anne Ryan, and Margaret Tripptree; and brother Neil and his wife Lorraine; his eighteen grandchildren: Andrew Cahill, Erin Cahill, Rose Forest, Vincent Cahill, Wagner Forest, Jarett Blackburn, Samantha Cahill, Theresa Cahill, Claire Blass, Carolyn Blackburn, Allison Cahill, Jamie Cahill, Julia Blass, Matthew Rogan, Charles Rogan, Caleb Cahill, Violet Cahill and Nora Cahill; and twenty five nieces and nephews.  John was also predeceased by his sixth and youngest child Denis William who died at age five in 1979.

 A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 22 at 11:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, 340 Hawthorne Rd Elkin, NC.  Burial will be in Hingham, MA at a later date.

It is with sorrow that I have to report the death of one of my classmates, James Derry '41

in Berkeley Twsp. NJ after a long illness.

James G. Deery, 88, of Berkeley Twsp., NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday March 20, 2016.

James was born in New York City, NY and lived in Cranford, NJ before moving to Berkeley Twsp., NJ 13 years ago.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy during WWII.

James worked in retail management for Lawrence James Inc. in Union, NJ.

In any case, she was Eleanor Frances Barton (nee) Concannon, class of 34.

Sweet lady lived here at Seabrook Village.

Eleanor went home to be with Christ and her daughter Elaine on November 23, 2015. She was born April 18, 1920 in New York City and was predeceased by her parents Anna Taylor Barton and Martin J. Concannon and a daughter Elaine Patricia Barton (2005). 
She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Bernard J Barton; daughter Maureen Barton Williamson and husband Raymond; son Brian J. Barton and wife Lynne Mento Barton; grandchildren Julie Barton, Alyson Barton, Raymond Williamson, Jr. and wife Joleen Lerner Williamson, Robert Williamson and Victoria Williamson; Michelle Williamson Conover and husband Jeffrey Conover plus six great-grandchildren, Jamie, Trevor, Megan, Brandon, Kevin and Morgan. Eleanor and Bernard moved from their first home in Long Island to Apple Farm Rd in Middletown, NJ in 1948 and resided there until moving to Seabrook Village at Tinton Falls in 2002. Eleanor loved the beach and was a member of Ship Ahoy Beach Club in Sea Bright for over 60 years. Besides her family she especially loved her Rose gardens and her yearly spring vacation to St. Simon's Island, Georgia. As our beloved Matriarch, she is sorely missed by her family and by all those who knew her.

Belinda (McHale) Irwin ‘57  , 72, of Edwardsville passed into the hands of The Lord

surrounded by her loving family Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at the family home.
Born Nov. 27, 1943, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Thomas McHale and Belinda Tigue McHale.

Belinda was a graduate of Ascension Grammar School in New York City and was a member of All Saints Parish, Plymouth.
Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as an office manager by New York City Paving Co. for many years.

After retirement, she was employed by the Kmart store in Edwardsville.
Belinda enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, who meant the world to her.

 Her family always came first.

She was a die-heart New York Mets fan. "Let's Go Metsgo."

She enjoyed Hershey milk chocolates and playing scratch-off lottery tickets.
She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by a sister, Mary Woods.
Surviving are her loving husband of 53 years, Arthur J. Irwin;

Children, Ann Marie Galgan and her husband, Chris, Staten Island, N.Y.; Belinda Irwin, Edwardsville; and John J. Irwin and his wife, Helen, Toyhanna. She is also survived by grandchildren, John Philip Borisuck, Bobby Galgan, Shane Borisuck, John Joe Irwin, Ciaran Irwin and Mary Irwin.

Belinda was also loved by a long list of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth,

followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Parish, Plymouth.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
