Joseph
Patrick Devaney Died peacefully with his families
love around him. He was a loving husband and father and had an extraordinary
kindness towards others. He enjoyed a good laugh, the beach and the sun;
but most of all, he enjoyed his precious grandchildren and the time he
spent with his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather,
friend and a good Catholic man. His children can only hope to be the person
he taught them, by example, to be. He bravely and honorably served his
country during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the Army, awarded the Korean
Service Medal with two bronze stars and the combat infantry badge. He was
employed for many years and retired in 1994 from Graybar Electric Company
in North Brunswick where he was operations
manager. Born to Irish immigrant parents, Thomas and Mary Devaney in New York City,
he was a parishioner of Ascension
Church in Manhattan. He married the love of his
life, Ann Cassidy and enjoyed 54 years of happiness with her. Together they
lived in New York City until 1971, moving to
East Brunswick until 2000, then residing in Manchester
and Vero Beach, Florida. He is predeceased by his
brothers, Patrick and Thomas and his precious son Michael. He leaves behind
his adored wife Ann and his heart broken children, Joanne and Dr. Carl Lepis of Wall Township, Joseph and Julie Devaney of Jacksonville, Florida, Thomas Devaney and Neil Cerbone of
South Orange and James Devaney and his fiance Jeananne Bertoline of Lake Hiawatha.
